Loved the Jet Black iPhone 7? How about a little white? When Apple released its latest iPhone 7 lineup, the new Black and Jet Black finishes were one of the key highlights as for a long time the color black had been missing from the palette. Following the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, some reports emerged hinting at Apple s plans of releasing the latest flagship in a new Jet White color option. Now, we have the first look at what the iPhone 7 line would look like in the snow hue. The short clip only shows off the back panels of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. But if you look closely, the iPhone 7 lacks the Apple logo, which means it isn t a genuine Apple design. It could either be Jet White replacement shells which are readily available on portals such as Alibaba or simply a shoddy paint job. A third-party company called ColorWare has painted the regular iPhone 7 with a glossy white paint but it is unlikely to miss out on the Apple logo, a report on 9to5 Mac notes. Whether it is a replacement shell that Dickson is showing off or a prototype of the final version, the clip does give an idea of how the iPhone 7 would look like if at all it makes appearance in Jet White. It had been previously rumored that Apple will launch the new color option mid-cycle following the success of the Jet Black iPhone 7. As it is unlikely for Apple to skip its tradition and launch a new color choice in the middle of its product cycle, the reports were met with skepticism.
As of now, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are available in five color choices of Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and the new Black and Jet Black. Given the fact that the Jet Black iPhone 7, with its glossy surface, is prone to scratches, the new Jet White option might be an alternative choice for customers. However, the Cupertino, California-based company has been struggling with the outpour of demands for its existing color choices and adding an entirely new color, instead of picking the existing Rose Gold from its palette, doesn t seem to be a wise decision at the moment. In a September report by analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is in the midst of a global shortage of the Jet Black iPhones because the procedure of getting the finish right is tricky. According to Kuo, the Jet Black iPhone 7 s 9 step manufacturing process has a 60-70 percent yield rate, which means 30-40 percent of Jet Black components don t make the cut.
