JioPhone 2 to be available via open sale from November 5-12: Here’s all you need to know

Until now, the 'smart featurephone' has only been available via flash sales.

Announced at RIL’s 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM), the JioPhone 2 has been quite successful in India. The successor to last year’s JioPhone’s the new ‘smart featurephone’ has been made available for purchase frequently via flash sales, ever since it went on sale from August 15.

If you couldn’t grab a JioPhone 2 before, we’ve got great news for you. As part of Reliance Jio’s festive season promotions, the JioPhone 2 will be available for purchase via open sale for the first time. The sale, which kicks off today (November 5) at 12PM, will continue till November 12, so you have an entire week to purchase the device.

JioPhone2 will be available for purchase on Reliance Jio’s official website, starting 12PM today. The open sale will continue till November 12, so you have a one week to purchase the device, assuming stocks last till that time. The mobile device is priced at Rs 2,999, but if you pay via Paytm, you can get a cashback of Rs 200 off the phone’s retail price.

JioPhone 2: Specifications and features

Reliance’s JioPhone 2 has a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 240×320 pixels. That said, the featurephone shares most of its internal hardware with last year’s JioPhone.

Under the hood, JioPhone 2 has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards of up to 128GB. The phone runs a customized version of KaiOS, and popular apps like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook are now available for the platform. It also has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing snapper. All standard connectivity options (e.g. 4G VoLTE, VoWI-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio) are there, with a 2,000mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet.
