Karbonn has discreetly launched two new smartphones, the A15+ and A1+ Duple, which have been selling online for Rs 5,890 and Rs 3,690 respectively. These smartphones are upgraded versions of the A15 and A1+ models and come with more recent version of Android and improved hardware features. The Karbonn A15+ is the successor of the A15 and comes with a better processor, camera and software. Specifications-wise, just like its predecessor, the A15+ comes with a 4-inch TFT display with 480×800 pixels resolution but has upgraded the processor from 1GHz to 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera, while the earlier model came with a 3-megapixel camera. Karbonn has also upgraded the battery of the phone from 1,420mAh to 1,500mAh. Other features in the phone include connectivity support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, and 3G.
Just like the A15+, the A1+ Duple is also a successor of the A1+, though comes with a similar display size and type 3.5-inch display with 320×480 pixels resolution. The phone runs on 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal storage, while the previous model came with a 1GHz processor. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera and houses a 1300mAh battery. The phone offers connectivity support through Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE.
Besides these, both the A15+ and A1+ Duple come with a relatively newer Android 4.2 Jelly Bean unlike their predecessors which ran on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 2.3 Gingerbread respectively.
At this price point, the Karbonn A15+ will be up against budget handsets like Panasonic T31 and T11, and Micromax A74 among others. Karbonn A1+ Duple, on the other hand, will compete against the likes of Spice Smart Flo Edge, which also comes with similar features and is priced at Rs 3,299.
