Last year, Karbonn launched the Titanium S5 and now it seems the Indian smartphone vendor is readying a new variant of the mid-range quad-core smartphone. A new device called the Titanium S5i is listed on certain Indian e-commerce websites (spotted by Gizbot) with a price tag of Rs 7,999. Going by the listed specifications, the Titanium S5i seems to be a stripped down version of the Titanium S5. It sports a 5-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display and is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz and paired with 512MB of RAM. In comparison, its predecessor flaunted a 5-inch qHD display and was powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.
The rest of the specifications remain much the same, featuring an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera (down from 2-megapixel on the predecessor), expandable memory up to 32GB using a microSD card slot and a 2,000mAh battery.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slot, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. At this price point, it will compete against the likes of Intex Aqua i4+ and the Lava Iris 50 among others. There is currently no mention of a date of availability, but the fact that it has been listed on e-commerce sites could mean that a launch isn t that far off.
Last month, another variant of the Titanium S5 was spotted online called the Titanium S5+, which is yet to be formally launched by the company. To recap on its specifications, the Titanium S5+ features a 5-inch qHD display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, expandable memory using a microSD card, 8-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera and 1,800mAh battery.
