Google will be launching its Android One initiative in India on September 15, in partnership with domestic handset makers Micromax, Karbonn and Spice. Karbonn has today put up a teaser on its Facebook page, which confirms its Android One smartphone will indeed be launched on Monday and will be available on e-commerce site Snapdeal. Karbonn has used the tagline #NoHave on its 10 second teaser video. The smartphone vendor essentially says, If you # NoHave the funkiest, coolest, smartest, awesomest smart phone, then get ready to be surprised! At the end of the video, Karbonn says to login to Snapdeal at 03:30PM on September 15, which all but confirms that its Android One smartphone will retail on the Indian e-commerce site. In June, Google announced its Android One initiative to launch sub-$100 handsets aimed at bringing the next one billion population to the Android operating system ecosystem. While Android One devices will be launched around the world, the initiative would start with India. As a part of the initiative, Google will provide hardware reference designs and software guidelines to its partners. Micromax s Android One smartphone would be a dual-SIM 4.5-inch display device with a removable SD card and MediaTek processor. Karbonn and Spice s smartphones too are expected to be similarly specced.
