Kodak Ektra, the photography-centric smartphone, is now available for Rs 9,999 exclusively on Snapdeal. The Kodak Ektra was launched in India at Rs 19,990, and is now available at 40 percent discount on the e-commerce platform.

The Kodak Ektra is the resurrection of company’s iconic 35mm camera with the same name launched in 1941. The smartphone features a 5-inch Full HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The handset is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It also supports expandable storage via dedicated SD card slot.

However, the specifications are a secondary thing here and Kodak has focused entirely on bringing the experience of its dedicated camera to the smartphone. The Ektra features a 21-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, and the company’s non-reflective lens coating. The main camera also includes optical image stabilization along with phase detection autofocus and HDR imaging.

The smartphone has a dedicated shutter button and a manual mode that mimics the dial found on DSLR. The manual mode can also be customized with adjustable shutter speed and ISO rating. There is also a set of scene camera similar to DSLRs and the primary camera can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

The Kodak Ektra also features a 13-megapixel selfie shooter, and comes with an array of image editing features. The Ektra also includes options to play with grain, vignettes and reproduce that Super 8 look for analog memories. The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.

Smartphone photography has seen significant improvement in terms of quality and performance in the past few years. While mainstream smartphones concentrate on imaging with default settings, the Ektra gives those extra controls that are easily accessible. At a discounted of price of Rs 9,999, it seems reasonably priced for a smartphone that focuses only on camera and imaging.
