Earlier in the day we reported that the Lava XOLO X900 will be launched sometime later this month. Now we can confirm that the Lava XOLO X900 will be launched on April 19. It will be the first Android smartphone to run Intel’s chipset, however it will run a stock version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which unfortunately is not the latest version.
The XOLO X900 is based on Intel’s reference design of for its mobile platform called Medfield. The device will feature a Intel Medfield processor clocked at 1.6GHz, a dedicated GPU clocked at 400MHz, a 4.03-inch 1024×600 pixel display, an 8.0 megapixel camera, NFC and HDMI connectivity. Intel claims the camera can take 10 pictures in under a second in full resolution in burst mode setting.
We expect the device to be priced at around Rs 25,000, but it remains to be seen if Indian consumers will pay such a premium for a Lava device. The device was originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February.
