Adding another budget-friendly smartphone to its folio, Lava has launched the new A77. The smartphone is priced at Rs 6,099. It is however interesting to note that @MaheshTelecom, who is a trusted telecom leakster, claims the smartphone is retailing at Rs 4,999 as well. The Lava A77 comes with 4G VoLTE support, and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The smartphone is available in blue, gold, and grey color variants. However, the unique selling point of the device remains to be the LED flash module, which is placed besides the 5-megapixel front camera. The Lava smartphone features a 4.5-inch WVGA display, with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is coupled with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The on-board storage is expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card.

Now, while Lava offers the A77 smartphone at Rs 6,099, it faces tough competition from the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 4. Priced at Rs 6,999, Xiaomi’s smartphone offers quite a bit more. While the Redmi 4 comes in two other higher variants, we would draw a comparison against the lowest variants, for a fair match.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS display with 296ppi and wrapped under a 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood is Qualcomm s Snapdragon 435 octa-core chipset, accompanied by 16GB of on-board storage and 2GB of RAM. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. For photography, the Redmi 4 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) support.
