As expected, Lava today launched a new smartphone, which is the first among the next-generation Android One smartphones. Unlike the first-gen Android One smartphones, the Lava Pixel V1 will be available online as well as offline. Online, it will go on sale exclusively via Flipkart from July 27 onwards. Also on offer are two color variants white-silver and gold.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Lava Pixel V1 flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with Asahi Dragon Trail Glass protection, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor paired with Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
On the photography front, the smartphone features an 13-megapixel camera at the back (software enhanced from 8-megapixels). It comes with LED flash, 1.4um BSI sensor, and f/2.0 aperture. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel snapper (software enhanced from 5-megapixels).
The Pixel V1 also features a 2,650mAh battery with battery-saving mode, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and USB OTG support. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
In comparison, the previous generation Android One smartphones featured a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core SoC, 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel selfie camera, and a 1,700mAh battery. While the smartphones were launched with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, they have since been updated to Android Lollipop.
