Lava Pixel V1 vs Yu Yureka Plus vs Lenovo K3 Note: Price, specifications, features compared

pixel-v1-vs-yureka-plus-vs-k3-note

Lava and Google today launched the second-generation Android One smartphone, called the Pixel V1. The second-gen Android One smartphone is a massive upgrade over its predecessor, and is priced much higher at Rs 11,350. It is bound to face some tough competition from the likes of the recently launched Yu Yureka Plus and the Lenovo K3 Note to name a few. We pit the three smartphones in a comparison based on their pricing, specifications and features to see which comes up top. Lenovo and Yu have a massive advantage over Lava s new smartphone, with their price tag of Rs 9,999. The Android One smartphone, on the other hand, is priced much higher at Rs 11,350. But where the first two smartphones are only available online, Lava s smartphone has the advantage of being available online (Flipkart) as well as offline (The Mobile Store).

Display

The Pixel V1 is again at a disadvantage here flaunting a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels), while its rivals flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) displays. The screen on the Yureka Plus is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the screen on Lava s smartphone is protected by Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection. There is no such protection on Lenovo s K3 Note.

Processor

Where the Yureka Plus and K3 Note are powered by newer 64-bit processor, the Pixel V1 has a rather dated processor under the hood. The Yureka Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor, while the K3 Note is powered by a MediaTek MT6752 octa-core 64-bit processor. The Pixel V1, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor.

All the processors though are paired with 2GB of RAM each.

Storage

Unlike its predecessors, the Pixel V1 has plenty of storage 32GB and it can be further expanded using a microSD card. In comparison, the Yureka Plus and K3 Note feature 16GB internal storage, which too can be expanded using a microSD card.

Cameras

On paper, the Pixel V1 features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, which is on par with its rivals 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel. In Lava s case though, the cameras have been enhanced from 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel respectively using software. We will wait till we have reviewed the smartphone before passing a judgment on how good the cameras are.

Battery

The Pixel V1 features a respectable 2,650mAh battery, which is bigger than what the 2,500mAh battery on the Yureka Plus. The K3 Note though has the biggest battery in this comparison 3,000mAh.

Connectivity

The Pixel V1 is again at a disadvantage here with its lack of support for 4G LTE. While it has dual-SIM card support, its rivals feature dual-SIM card slots, as well as 4G LTE support.

Software

This is the biggest draw for the Android One smartphones. Developed in conjunction with Google, the Android One smartphones are among the first to get software updates way ahead of smartphones from other OEMs. The Pixel V1 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and is guaranteed an update to Android M. There is no such guarantee on the Yureka Plus or the K3 Note.

The only thing here is that first-generation Android One smartphone users had to uncharacteristically wait a long time to get the Lollipop update. It will be interesting to see if Google and Lava manage to avoid the mistake this time around.

While it is good to see Google not having given up on Android One, unfortunately, the Lava Pixel V1 could suffer from strong competition from its rivals. A high price tag, no 4G LTE, and dated processor are some of the issues that buyers will find it difficult to oversee.

A detailed comparison table follows.
