The first commercially available Android smartphone running on Intel’s Medfield processor is set to be launched in India next week. Lava, which announced its partnership with Intel at MWC earlier this year, will launch the XOLO X900 running on Intel’s Atom Z2460 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Read on for more details.

The XOLO X900 is based on Intel’s reference design and will also be launched by Orange in Europe under different branding, currently codenamed Santa Clara. The device is being manufactured by Gigabyte. It features 400MHz of dedicated GPU, a 4.03-inch 1024×600 pixel display, an 8.0 megapixel camera, NFC and HDMI connectivity. Intel claims the camera can take 10 pictures in under a second in full resolution in burst mode setting.

Our sources had earlier indicated a Rs 25,000 price point for the smartphone. However, the question still remains whether users will be willing to spend that kind of money on a Lava product. Who knows, Lava might just be able to pull it off.
