We have earlier reported that Microsoft is working on adding support for open standards like CalDAV and CardDAV, after the Google announced to pull back support for Exchange ActiveSync for Gmail as well as Google Calendar on Windows Phone 8. Now a new video has been posted by All About Windows Phone in which the CardDAV and CalDAV support has been demoed on Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update running on the Lumia 925. The video gives a brief introduction and also shows the CardDAV and CalDAV support on WP8 which will have a restricted usage and will support only Google account including Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts for now. That is just about it, as the video has nothing much to offer but to show the setting options for CardDAV and CalDAV given in the email+accounts Settings in the app option.
The update will be released soon and we are expecting Microsoft to open the standards to other services as well.
