LeEco s first action camera, the Liveman C1 doesn t offer 60fps 4K recording like the latest Yi 4K+, but it can be pitted against the predecessor Yi 4K action camera which was launched earlier last year. The Yi 4K camera featured a 2.19-inch touchscreen display and covered with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The camera comes with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 sensor, with a 155-degree wide-angle lens, and capable of shooting 4K @30fps. It comes armed with a 1,400mAh battery and supports connectivity options such as Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. When launched, the camera was priced at $200 (approximately Rs 13,600). Considering, LeEco is offering a smaller display and less battery capacity, one could expect the Liveman C1 to be available with a slightly lower pricing.
The action camera market is increasingly getting crowded with manufacturers, who intend to diversify their product portfolio, offering affordable alternative to industry leader GoPro. At the recently concluded CES 2017, Xiaomi introduced its next-generation Yi 4K+ action camera that takes GoPro s Hero5 Black head on. With 60fps 4K recording capability, Xiaomi s action camera not only pales the Hero5 Black in comparison but is also said to be the first in its category to offer double the rate for 4K recording.
The new Yi 4K+ camera uses Ambarella H2 SoC processor with 2GB of RAM that offers a maximum bitrate of 120Mbps. It is said to be the first 14nm video processing/encoding SoC. The chipset consumes low power while delivering 4K Ultra HD videos. It further comes with features such as Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Type-C, RAW support, live streaming and VR support. Although official pricing details of the camera aren t disclosed, given the first-in-its-category features, the Yi 4K+ is expected to be priced somewhere around $350 (approximately Rs 23,850), about $50 lesser than the GoPro Hero5 Black.
