Lenovo is set to launch two new smartphones in India today. While the company sent out media invites last week, it didn’t reveal anything about the device it plans to launch. Having said that, BGR India has learned that the Chinese manufacturer will launch not just one, but two new devices in India. These are expected to get marketed as Lenovo A5 and Lenovo K9.
Both these phones are expected to come under Rs 10,000 price bracket, and Lenovo A5 could be the direct rival to Xiaomi’s Redmi 6A budget smartphone. Lenovo K9 prices could start from Rs 7,999 for the base variant, and they will be sold exclusively via Flipkart.
Earlier this year in June, Lenovo launched two smartphones in China dubbed Lenovo K5 Note and Lenovo A5. We are expecting both smartphones to make it to India, although Lenovo K5 Note might get rebranded here as Lenovo K9 since Lenovo K5 Note has already been launched by the company in 2016.
Lenovo A5 Specifications and Features
The Lenovo A5 will feature a 5.45-inch HD+ 18:9 display, and is powered by a MediaTek MT6739 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. There will be two storage variants to choose from, with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage.
The smartphone will feature a single 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, an 8-megapixel selfie camera with the same aperture, and a bigger 4,000mAh battery. On the software front, the Lenovo A5 will come with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
Lenovo K9 Specifications and Features
The Lenovo K9 is expected to feature a 6-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) IPS display, and could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. The smartphone is likely to come in two variants – a 32GB+3GB and a 64GB+4GB variant.
The smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup (16-megapixel+2-megapixel) boasting AI capabilities at the back, an 8-megapixel front camera with beauty modes, microSD card slot, and a 3,760mAh battery. On the software front, it could run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
