In line with BGR India’s exclusive report from earlier today, Lenovo has confirmed it is launching an affordable 4G LTE smartphone in India. Lenovo confirmed the news in a two-liner statement to BGR India. “Lenovo to launch a Snapdragon based 410 LTE device to India with an aggressive price point. According to sources, the device is likely to be similar to the Lenovo K3, which was announced in China earlier this month. While pricing information isn’t available, sources told BGR India it would be priced below both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Micromax’s YU Yureka. It could be priced closer to Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S.
Lenovo is the third largest smartphone vendor in India after it acquired Motorola while Xiaomi closely trails as the fourth largest in the world. Micromax, on the other hand, is the second largest smartphone vendor in India.
Lenovo’s announcement comes on a day when Xiaomi announced it sold 40,000 units of the Redmi Note 4G in six seconds.
