Flexible devices is being widely discussed in the mobile industry and the likes of LG, and Samsung have already launched smartphones with flexible displays. In fact, Samsung has revealed that its flexible phones are ‘just around the corner’. But Lenovo today has beaten both of them by showcasing a truly flexible smartphone and tablet at its ongoing Tech World event. By doing so, Lenovo has also proved that just having flexible displays isn’t enough to create bendy gadgets. At the event, Lenovo called upon YouTube sensation Meghan McCarthy to showcase its future bendable smartphone and tablet. McCarthy showcased a smartphone that doesn’t need to be kept in a bag or pockets, and can be simply worn on one’s wrist like a bracelet. If that wasn’t enough, she also showed a tablet that can be folded down the middle and used like a large screened smartphone. But there’s one catch. Lenovo’s products are still far from commercial availability and are still just prototypes. Lenovo CTO Peter Hortensius said on stage that these are far from being introduced in the market. He also couldn’t help but ask Meghan McCarthy to be a bit careful in handling these devices as they are quite expensive.
