Chinese smartphone manufacturer Lenovo today launched its ‘iPhone 6 clone’ called S90 in India. From thinness to the curved edges and white antenna lines, the phone seems to have taken lots of inspiration from Apple s flagship smartphone. We pit the device with similarly priced flagships like Xiaomi Mi 4 and the OnePlus One to see how it fairs. In terms of pricing, the Lenovo S90 is priced at Rs 19,990, and the Mi 4 is in the same bracket at Rs 19,999. The OnePlus One handset will cost you the most at Rs 21,999. The OnePlus is available for purchase through Amazon India, the Mi 4, on the other hand, will be available through flash sales on Flipkart starting tomorrow. The Lenovo S90 is available across retail outlets and the company’s official store with same day shipping and cash on delivery options.
The OnePlus One is bigger than the Mi 4, but both feature the same thickness 8.9mm. In comparison, the Lenovo S90 is just 6.9mm thick. The Lenovo S90 is also the lightest at 129 grams, while the Mi 4 weighs 149 grams and the One s 162 grams.
The S90 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, with pixel density of 294ppi. The One features a 5.5-inch display with 401ppi pixel density, while the Mi 4 features a ‘S90-like’ 5-inch display with pixel density of 441ppi.
Both Mi 4 and OnePlus One sport a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz. Both the handsets also have 3GB of RAM. In comparison, the Lenovo S90 falls short with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
The S90, One and the Mi 4 feature a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, and LED flash. Selfie lovers won t be disappointed either. OnePlus One packs in a 5-megapixel front-facing camera while the Mi 4 and S90 feature an 8-megapixel shooter upfront.
None of the smartphones have a microSD card slot to expand the internal storage. The One features 64GB storage, the Mi 4 only has 16GB (however, the Mi 4 64GB variant just got announced), and the S90 comes with 32GB of internal storage.
The S90 falls short with just a 2,300mAh battery, while the One has a 3,100mAh battery, and the Mi 4 has a 3,080mAh unit.
While the handsets run on Android KitKat, their custom skins and features make a lot of difference. The Lenovo S90 runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat based on Vibe 2.0. The Mi 4, on the other hand, runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat wrapped under the company s MIUI. The OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod 11S OS based on Android KitKat.
There are a few things that the S90 quite clearly lags in, like the battery and processor. But a huge plus point will be the absence of the flash sale model. The Mi 4 and OnePlus One are exclusively retailing only through flash sales via Flipkart and Amazon India respectively. In comparison, the Lenovo S90 is available on the online store and retail outlets widely. Also, its stark resemblance to the iPhone 6 could be a huge draw for many, depending on personal preference.
