On the sidelines of the Vibe S1 launch in Delhi, Lenovo revealed that along with Motorola, it sells the most number of smartphones online in India. Speaking to BGR India, Lenovo India s director of smartphones, Sudhin Mathur said, Lenovo and Motorola are the number one when it comes to online smartphone sales in India, and in the offline sales too we have moved up a notch. Giving a further insight into how its smartphones are doing, Mathur said that the company had managed to sell over a million units of the A6000 and the K3 Note. The A6000 was launched in January via Flipkart, priced at Rs 6,999, while the K3 Note was launched in June for Rs 9,999.
Along with Motorola, Lenovo is also now the fourth biggest smartphone brand, Mathur added. We are doing well both in the offline and online space, and along with Motorola currently control 9.5 percent of the mobile market share in the country, Mathur said. On the basis of revenue Mathur said that the two companies combined stand in the third position.
The latest IDC report reflects Mathur s claims, which shows Samsung leading the pack followed by Micromax, Intex and the Lenovo/Motorola. Samsung controls a 24 percent share, followed by Micromax and Intex controlling 16.7 percent and 10.8 percent shares respectively.
As mentioned above, Lenovo today launched the Vibe S1 in India, which goes on sale via Amazon India with a price tag of Rs 15,999. To recap, the Vibe S1 features a 5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB onboard storage along with microSD card slot.
The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, dual front-facing selfie cameras, 2,420mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
