Lenovo is all set to launch its first octa-core based smartphone Vibe X2 in India. The company has sent out media invites for a launch event on November 6, and even though they do not divulge in any details, the invite lets it slip that the Vibe X2 will be launched, as the attachment in the email is named after the device. The Lenovo Vibe X2 was unveiled earlier in September at IFA and features a unique ‘multi-layered’ design. The device comes with additional layers of different colors. These layers add more functionality and can be just snapped-on to the back. One layer massively increases the battery’s capacity (up to 75 percent, apparently) and another offers hi-fi JBL audio and a kickstand to prop up the phone on a table. As far as specifications are concerned, the Vibe X2 flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) display and is powered by MediaTek s MT6595m True8Core processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB internal storage, and a 2,300mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android KitKat wrapped under VIBE UI 2.0 skin.
While there is no word on the India pricing, the smartphone was announced for $399, which roughly translates to Rs 24,300. As the name suggests, the Vibe X2 will succeed the Vibe X which comes with 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and is currently retailing for Rs 19,450.
Apart from unveiling the Vibe X2 at IFA in Berlin the company also boasted about being fourth place in the worldwide smartphone market. However, after the deal closure with Motorola last week, the consolidated market owned by both the companies puts them in the third position, beating even the hugely successful Xiaomi.
