Lenovo VR Classroom Kit with standalone Daydream headset launched

Lenovo Virtual Reality Classroom will be available in the US starting April 2018.

After unveiling at CES 2018, Lenovo has now officially announced its VR Classroom package. The kit includes Mirage Solo, a Lenovo Tab 4 PLUS 10-inch Android tablet, Ruckus R510 commercial router, custom cart or case for transporting and charging the hardware, professional instruction videos and lesson plans, as well as a special warranty with enhanced support and advanced exchange. A three-student pack will be available from April in the US and this fall in Canada priced at $2,899 (Rs 184,200 approximately), while the 10-student pack and 24-student pack will also be available but the pricing details are not available. This new VR classroom package from Lenovo is designed to bring virtual reality into the classroom, and use it as a tool to enhance students learning experiences. The VR Classroom set is aimed at students aged 13 or above, and the educational content includes over 700 VR field trips from Google Expeditions, along with three exclusive Jane Goodall Wild Immersion videos. “Lenovo Virtual Reality Classroom focuses on delivering a robust teaching and learning VR experience and aims to create a blended learning environment that is content-rich, immersive, and easy-to-use. Lenovo Virtual Reality Classroom contains pre-loaded software filled with rich content, and the package includes a commercial warranty, premier-level support, and professional development.”

The company is offering a Tab 4 PLUS 10-inch tablet for the teachers, a Ruckus R510 commercial router with high bandwidth for video content, and either a cart or case depending on the size of the bundle ordered. The Mirage Solo is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage along with a microSD option. It sports a 5.5-inch QHD LCD screen and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery which is said to run up to seven hours.
