Lenovo is set to launch a new smartphone, Lenovo Z2 Plus, in India sometime next week. Ahead of the official launch, Lenovo is building some hype around its new smartphone over the social media. It has put up a few teasers, dropping some hints about features of the smartphone. The smartphone is believed to be successor to Lenovo ZUK Z1, which launched in India earlier this year. However, it seems the smartphone will be dropping the ZUK moniker. The Lenovo Z2 Plus is likely to be the ZUK Z2 smartphone which was launched in China in June this year. Lenovo’s teaser on its official Twitter account says the smartphone will be stronger than metal. It further says that the Lenovo Z2 Plus is made of something much stronger and lighter than metal hinting. The company claims that there is a new internal heat conduction technology that prevents the device from overheating. There is a second video that shows that the smartphone will feature a home button which can be used for different purposes. The Lenovo Z2 Plus will come with a U-Touch feature for navigation and controlling other features. The video starts with the caption “buttons control everything.” The U-Touch button will also double up as the fingerprint scanner, which is capable to scan even when fingers are moist or wet. Another teaser video that Lenovo has put up hints at health-focused features in the smartphone. Based on the teaser, the smartphone will come with a health app called U-health, which will be providing health-related information.

Lenovo Z2 Plus specifications
From what we know so far, the Lenovo Z2 Plus will come with a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) LCD display. It is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. Also on offer will be 64GB internal storage; however there will be no option to expand the memory further. On the camera front, the smartphone will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, electronic image stabilization (EIS) and 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, it will come with an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80 degrees wide angle lens.
There is a 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Z2 Plus will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under ZUI 2.0.
Lenovo Z2 Plus price
The ZUK Z2 is priced in China at 1,800 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 18,400. If Lenovo plans to launch the smartphone in this price range, it will face will lock horns with the likes of Motorola Moto X Play and Xiaomi Mi Max among others. Lenovo hasn’t confirmed the date of the launch, but some reports say it will launch on September 20.
