Recently we have been hearing a lot about an upcoming ZUK Edge smartphone. While there is no word on a launch date yet, multiple leaks have given us a fair idea of what to expect from the device. Despite the name, leaks suggest that the ZUK Edge won’t feature a curved display, and it will be a premium offering from the Lenovo-backed company. The image, spotted by Gizmochina, shows the ZUK Edge kept on a desk and again proves that it will come sans a curved display. The black variant takes us back to the very first leak, which showed two sheets in white and black along with the ZUK Edge branding on top of it. This leak is much in line with the images spotted on TENAA a few days back. Those images showed a selfie camera lens above the display, and with a home button below the display. The power button and the volume rocker were located on the right side, while the SIM tray was located on the left side. The back of the smartphone houses the rear camera lens placed vertically with the LED flash along with the ZUK branding below.

From what we know so far, the smartphone will weigh around 160 grams and will be 7.68mm thick. It will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz, and an Adreno 530 GPU. The smartphone will also come with 4GB of RAM, along with 64GB of internal storage, but rumors suggest that there won’t be an option to expand the onboard storage.
On the camera front, the smartphone will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Up front, there will be an 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the software front, the smartphone could run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. It is expected to come with 3,000mAh battery and connectivity options such as Bluetooth, GPS, 4G LTE with VoLTE support and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
There is no official word on the launch of ZUK Edge but some reports suggest that Lenovo will launch the smartphone by the end of this year. It is also expected that the smartphone will hit global markets in the early months of 2017.
In comparison, Lenovo recently brought the ZUK Z2 to India, but named it Z2 Plus instead. Talking about the Z2 Plus, it is one of the most affordable smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset in India. The company launched two variants – 3GB of RAM plus 32GB onboard storage priced at Rs 17,999, whereas 4GB of RAM plus 64GB storage priced at Rs 19,999. The only smartphone from the ZUK series that has not arrived in India is the ZUK Z2 Pro.
This smartphone features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080p) super AMOLED display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. In the photography department, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. With 3,100mAh battery, connectivity options include USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
