LG had promised that it would begin the global roll out of the LG G Watch R by the end of October. Keeping its word, the company has announced that it would first launch the round-shaped smartwatch in South Korea on October 14. The G Watch R is expected to be more expensive than its squarish G Watch, priced around KRW 352,000 (Rs 20,300 approximately). LG confirmed this news on its official South Korea website. As far as the specifications go, the smartwatch has a 1.3-inch Plastic OLED display with 320 320 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 512MB RAM, and also offers 4GB of internal memory. Also included is a 410mAh battery. On the software front, the smartwatch runs on Android Wear, and also features IP67 rating that makes it resistant to dust and water. While the specifications are quite standard, it is the hardware that LG believes will tempt buyers. Unlike the bland-looking square G Watch, the G Watch R has a gorgeous circular watch face. There s even a crown on the side, which is likely the power button in disguise.
Its biggest competitor will be the Motorola Moto 360 which is almost similar in specs and shape. The Moto 360 is priced at Rs 17,999 and is now available on Flipkart for purchase. There is however no word at the moment on when LG plans on launching the smartwatch in India.
