As far as the specifications go, the smartwatch will have a 1.3-inch Plastic OLED display with 320×320 pixels resolution. It will run on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 512MB RAM. The smartwatch also offers 4GB of internal memory and will pack a 410mAh battery. The operating system on the smartwatch will be Android Wear (compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above). So you will get the same Google Now-based experience, notifications, and easy access to notes and calendar and directions, and more. The smartwatch is dust and water resistant with an IP67 rating with the company claiming that the watch is designed to run for up to 30 minutes in one meter of water.
While the specifications are quite standard, it is the hardware that LG believes will tempt buyers. Unlike the bland-looking square G Watch, the G Watch R has a gorgeous circular watchface. There’s even a crown on the side, which is likely the power button in disguise. LG G Watch R will be available only in black color with an interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap.
LG has not revealed the price but has hinted that LG G Watch R will reach select markets by the fourth quarter of 2014.
