After Xiaomi and Samsung, LG has today confirmed the launch date for the LG G5 at MWC 2016. LG will take the wraps off its flagship smartphone on February 21, which incidentally is the same day Samsung will be launching its flagship smartphones as well. Besides confirming the launch of the LG G5, the company also hints at something more that will be launched at the event. The invite comes with the caption — “Come meet new friends on the playground.” While it is keeping mum on what the other product could be, recent reports hint at products like an universal credit card, and a LG 360 virtual reality headset.
In the run up to the launch event, we have come across a lot of leaked information about the LG G5. One of the reports claimed that the LG G5 could boast a unique design, which consists of a metal unibody design and a detachable slot at the bottom that will let users remove the battery.
Another report talks about the upcoming smartphone boasting a LG V-10 like secondary display, as well as a Magic Slot , which will allow users to attach devices like cameras, audio amplifiers or physical keyboards to the device.
LG G5 specifications and features: From what we have come across so far, the LG G5 is expected to feature a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 1440 pixels) display, Qualcomm s newest Snapdragon 820 chipset and 3GB of RAM along with 2,800mAh battery.
On the photography front, reports suggest that the LG G5 could boast a dual-camera setup alongside dual-LED flash and a laser autofocus. Up front it is expected to feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera. As we are seeing on an increasing number of new devices, the LG G5 too will have a fingerprint scanner placed under the rear camera.
