It looks like LG has a lot of interesting surprises up its sleeves in the coming month when the successor to its G5 makes its debut along with a pair of smartwatches. In the latest series of leaks ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, images of the anticipated LG G6 along with new LG smartwatches have surfaced online. The leaked image hints at a metal body smartphone with narrow bezels. The smartwatches, on the other hand, run the latest Android Wear 2.0 and are expected to offer upgrades over the previous edition. The image of the purported flagship shows off only the upper half of the G6. In tune with previous details, there is no modular design on the G6. Owing to the lukewarm response to the G5, the G6 is likely to feature a regular design language with metal and glass body. Based on the image, the smartphone will further come with slim bezels. It is expected that the G6 will offer a screen-to-bezel ratio that is more than 90 percent, similar to what we have already seen on Xiaomi s concept Mi MIX smartphone that offers a ratio of 91.3 percent. Another element borrowed from Xiaomi s Mi MIX smartphone is the curved edges. The leaked image shows off the purported LG G6 as having rounded edges and antenna bands on the rear panel, The Verge reports. As far specifications go, past rumors have hinted at a 5.7-inch display with 2880 1440 pixels resolution with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It could further come powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. In the photography department, it is expected that LG G6 will pack a dual-camera setup, similar to what the Apple iPhone 7 has on offer.
The LG G6 could also feature a removable battery with Qualcomm s Quick Charge 4.0 and USB Type-C for fast charging and data transfer. Running on Android Nougat 7.1.1 OS wrapped under LG s custom UI, the G6 is unlikely to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack like its rivals. The flagship smartphone is expected to debut on February 26. Meanwhile, other than Google s rumored line of self-branded smartwatches, LG is also expected to launch a pair of Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches which will offer better specs and improved designs as compared to the earlier versions. Based on the leaked images, one of the LG smartwatches, which could be the next edition of the LG Watch Sport, appears to feature a larger display as compared to the other.
It is expected that the LG Watch Sport will feature a 1.38-inch 480 480 display and include 768MB of RAM. It will further come with IP68 certification, making it resistant to water and dust. Fuelled by a 430mAh battery, the smartwatch will run the latest Android Wear 2.0 OS. ALSO READ: LG Watch Sport, Watch Style Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches leaked
In addition to the Watch Sport, the LG Watch Style has also been detailed in leaks and rumors. With a 1.2-inch 360 360 display, the LG Watch Style will be smaller in comparison to the larger variant and house 512MB of RAM. It will carry a slightly lesser resistance to water and dust with IP67 certification. It will be fuelled by a 240mAh battery. Both the smartwatches are expected to include a digital crown for navigating. However, the Sport edition will include a set of physical buttons on the side.
In terms of availability, the new LG smartwatches are expected to debut alongside the rollout of Android Wear 2.0 to existing smartwatches on February 9.
