LG was among the companies that were quite slow with Android updates in the past, however, things have changed pretty much in the last two years. LG s G-series has been among the first to receive major updates. With that in mind, a report suggests that the company is now set to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG G6. The smartphone has been spotted running the latest android version on Geekbench, hinting that the update might hit the device very soon. Spotted by mysmartprice, LG might begin rolling out the Android Oreo update before the end of the year in South Korea. However, the report also suggests that other markets might have to wait to get the update until early 2018. Currently, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Once the update starts rolling out LG G6 owners will receive a notification for the Android Oreo update. If you haven t then you can manually check under the Settings menu. Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring in a host of features that will boost performance, increase battery life, and make the system more secure. Some of the new features from the eighth iteration of Android include split-screen capabilities, smart text selection, improved notifications, auto fill framework, and Google Play Protect.
To recap, the LG G6 features a 5.7-inch QHD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the top for protection. Under the hood is a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 821 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It is fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The phone features a dual-camera setup at the rear, which includes a pair of 13-megapixel camera sensors with PDAF, LED flash and OIS. Up front is a 5-megapixel selfie snapper on the front with screen flash. The smartphone recently also received a price drop from Rs 51,990 to Rs 37,990.
