LG today launched the K7 and K10 smartphones in India. The successor to popular L-series, the K-series is all about design. Aimed at the younger audience, one of the key highlights of these smartphones is the ‘glossy pebble’ design that looks stylish and contemporary. Besides the smooth and glossy finish, both smartphones also feature a 2.5D Arc Glass that offer a feeling of front panel blending into the back. We ran some benchmark tests on the LG K7 and compared the scores with one of its closest rivals, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. The LG K7 is priced at Rs 9,500, whereas the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs 8,499. In terms of hardware, despite the low-pricing, the Vibe K5 Plus is equipped with a better full HD (1080p) display as opposed to FWVGA on the K7. It is also equipped with a better processor and has more amount of RAM compared to LG’s K7. Also Read - This Qualcomm chip bug affects around 30 percent of phones globally: Report
The LG K7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 chipset clocked at 1.1GHz, paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which is further expandable using a microSD card. The Vibe K5 Plus, on the other hand, is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor paired with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Now let’s see how these smartphones perform in the benchmark tests. Also Read - Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon Review: Stylish, Slim, Super Performer
To begin with, we first ran the popular AnTuTu benchmark to check the overall performance, including memory, CPU, 2D and 3D graphics performance and the read/write speed of the internal storage. While the LG K7 logged a score of 19,245, the Vibe K5 Plus is way ahead with an impressive score of 34,938 points.
In the next test, we ran Quadrant benchmark that tests the overall performance including CPU, 3D graphics and I/O (input / output). While the K7 logged a score of 8704, the Vibe K5 Plus stays ahead with a score of 21,861 points.
Next on our list was GeekBench 3, a cross platform benchmark that measures memory and processor performance. Here, the K7 logged a score of 300 and 997 in single-core and multi-core tests. Without any surprise, the Vibe K5 Plus stays ahead with a score of 688 and 3,031 in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.
We also ran AndroBench to test the sequential read / write performance of the internal storage. While the K7 logged a read and write speeds of 134.58MB/s and 20.5MB/s, the Vibe K5 Plus logged slightly lesser 128MB/s and 14MB/s in the sequential read and write test.
We tested the graphics performance of both smartphones by running the 3D Mark Ice Storm Extreme, where the K7 scored 2,360 points and the Vibe K5 Plus logged a score of 5,023.
From the above benchmark scores, it is evident that the Vibe K5 Plus performs better than the LG K7. However, it is also important to note that the K7 is equipped with slightly inferior hardware than the Vibe K5 Plus.
