LG L-series smartphones cross 10 million units sales; taunts Samsung, Apple

LG has revealed that the sales of its L-series Android smartphones have exceeded 10 million units globally. The L-series has L3, L5, and L7 smartphones that were announced at the Mobile World Congress

LG has revealed that the sales of its L-series Android smartphones have exceeded 10 million units globally. The L-series has L3, L5, and L7 smartphones that were announced at the Mobile World Congress in February as well as the L9 smartphone that was launched recently. The L-series of smartphones have helped spark the resurgence of LG in he smartphone space, which till earlier this year was languishing thanks to Samsung, HTC and Sony in the Android space and Apple in the overall smartphone ecosystem. Buoyed by renewed confidence, LG took a jab at Samsung in the press release announcing the milestone when it mentions, “The success of L-Series in recording eight figures in sales is proof that many consumers want attractive smartphones with distinctive – not “me too” – styling.” Also Read - Your smartphone battery can blast if you do this

“This milestone demonstrates the importance of delivering smartphones with stylish design, comparative size of display and enhanced UX features,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “Whereas other manufacturers are putting all their eggs into a one-size-fits-all phone, our strategy is to develop mobile products for all types of customers according to their individual needs and lifestyles.”

Almost every manufacturer has pointed out Apple’s ‘one-size-fits-all’ strategy is flawed (dating back to 2007, when Nokia said it had a portfolio of devices while Apple had just one), the stark reality is that the “flawed” strategy has been working really well for the company for the past five years.
