We had earlier reported about LG s plans to launch the Optimus G in India and how the phone was already available at online retail stores before an official launch. In terms of specs, the Optimus G sports of a 4.7-inch HD IPS Plus (1280 x 768 pixels) display and is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB RAM. Other features included are a 13-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 32GB of internal memory and 2,100mAH battery. On the software side of things, the Optimus G runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a modified Optimus 3.0 UI and supports NFC.
The Optimus G was already available in the US and some Asian markets and now, with this launch it will go up against the likes of HTC Butterfly which is priced at around Rs 10K more and the soon to be launched Sony Xperia Z.
In fact, specs wise it is quite similar to the HTC Butterfly and Sony Xperia Z as all the three devices use the same Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, however the Optimus G sports a much lower resolution 720p display, while the other two boast much higher resolution 1080p displays.
