LG has silently launched its 2018 LG Q7 smartphone, the newest mid-range offering in company’s Q series in South Korea. The company is launching the new smartphone in its home market today and it brings some of the features usually found on more premium flagship smartphones. LG says the 2018 Q7 will begin shipping to key markets in Europe early next month and will be followed by other countries in the Americas and Asia.
Like last year’s Q6, the Q7 family consists of the Q7, Q7+ and Q7α, which all differ in terms of memory and camera configuration. In terms of specification, the 2018 LG Q7 features a 5.5-inch FullVision display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. They are powered by an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz or 1.8GHz. The LG Q7 and Q7α come with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while the Q7+ offers 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. All the three models support expandable storage up to 2TB via microSD card slot.
On the camera front, the LG Q7 and Q7α feature a 13-megapixel rear shooter while the Q7+ slight upgrade to a 16-megapixel sensor. All the three models get a 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie shooter but the Q7 and Q7+ will be offered with an 8-megapixel selfie camera in select markets. The Q7 series also brings a new Portrait Mode feature that will allow users to take selfies with blurred backgrounds using the bokeh effect.
Like G7 ThinQ, the Q7 series camera also gets AI integration and QLens feature for image recognition. The Q7 series also offers DTS:X support for deliver virtual 3D surround sound effect with up to 7.1 channel audio via the headphones. The Q7+, in particular, comes equipped with Hi-Fi Quad DAC for richer audio experience.
Like most premium smartphones these days, LG Q7 series is getting a glass back with 2.5D Arc Glass design with rounded-edges. The smartphones are IP68 water and dust resistant and support MIL-STD810G standard testing. Since the Q7 offers taller display, the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back. “With selected features just only recently introduced in our 2018 LG G7 ThinQ, the Q7 is a great combination of features, design, performance and price,” said Ha Jeung-uk, Senior VP, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The 2018 LG Q7 runs Android 8.0 Oreo, measure 143.8 x 69.3 x 8.4mm in dimension and weigh around 145 grams. All three models support 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and use USB Type-C port for charging. The smartphones are backed by a 3,000mAh battery and will be available in either black blue or violet color variants.
