LG has managed to sell 12.1 million smartphones in Q2 of 2013, which is the company’s best ever quarterly performance. Obviously, LG’s smartphone business has benefited a lot due to the success of the Google Nexus 4, which has been selling out all over the world and the results are now reflective on its smartphone sales. LG’s mobile communications business recorded revenue of $2.78 billion in the Q2, which was a 34 percent improvement from the same period last year. Last year, LG’s mobile phone business recorded revenue of $1.83 million. Its operating profit also increased to $54.37 million year over year, but declined from the previous quarter. LG’s mobile phone business has been churning out some impressive devices over the last year across price bands. Models like the F-series and the Optimus G and the newly launched Optimus G Pro. Both in terms of build quality and software features, LG’s newer handsets have proven to be more user friendly than market leading Samsung Galaxy smartphones. And now, slowly quality of the products are paying dividends.
