LG V30+

LG finally launched its flagship V30+ smartphone in India. The smartphone was first announced in late August at IFA 2017 conference in Berlin. The smartphone is LG’s most direct competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note8 and Apple iPhone X and the South Korean smartphone maker surprised everyone with its aggressive pricing.

LG V30+ features a 6-inch Quad HD+ P-OLED display with metal and glass design and thin bezels similar to G6. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It features dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel optically stabilized primary lens and a 13-megapixel secondary wide-angle lens. It also sports a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

LG V30+ features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which also doubles up as power button and runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The smartphone includes connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging support.

For LG, G6 may not have been that successful but V30+ is a capable smartphone that also has an attractive price tag. At Rs 44,990, the LG V30+ is priced competitively, and gives strong competition to the OnePlus 5T. Read out full review of LG V30+ here.

InFocus Vision 3

InFocus, the American smartphone maker backed by Foxconn, is taking a headstart by launching the cheapest smartphone with 18:9 display. This year has been all about getting rid of those thick bezels and packing a taller display for smartphone makers. InFocus is bringing that same philosophy to budget smartphone segment.

In terms of features, it sports a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display and is powered by MediaTek MT6737 chipset. The smartphone comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. It also offers dual rear cameras with one 13-megapixel image sensor and another 5-megapixel sensor. The selfie department is taken care of by an 8-megapixel shooter. InFocus Vision 3 also packs a large 4,000mAh battery that can last two full days.

In terms of specifications and features, the Vision 3 seems really capable for its Rs 6,999 price tag but fails to deliver well rounded experience in real-life. The camera fails to impress and performance is also lacklustre. Read our full review of InFocus Vision 3 here.

Tenor D

The 10.or D is the first smartphone to launch under “Crafted for Amazon” bandwagon. Amazon says the ‘Crafted for Amazon” are designed taking into account every feature that consumers on its e-commerce platform want in a particular price segment. With 10.or D, Amazon is competing with Xiaomi Redmi 5A, which is currently the best budget smartphone in the market.

The 10.or D features a 5.2-inch HD display and is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset. It comes in two storage variants: a 2GB RAM model with 16GB storage and a 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage. It boasts of a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

The dual-SIM smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor and starts at Rs 4,999. The 10.or D will go on its first sale on January 5.

Honor 7X

The Honor 7X is the newest addition to Honor’s wide range of smartphones with thin-bezel design and 18:9 display. The smartphone features aluminum unibody design and sports a big 5.93-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Kirin 659 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and option for either 32GB or 64GB internal storage.

Huawei pioneered dual rear camera setup and Honor 7X features dual rear cameras with 16-megapixel primary lens and a 2-megapixel secondary lens. It offers an 8-megapixel front camera with 1080p video recording feature. Honor 7X does come across as a strong contender in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment. Read Sambit Satpathy’s full review here.
