LG V30 has been one of the worst kept secrets and pretty much everything about the smartphone has already been revealed. LG recently announced that the smartphone will officially be launched on August 31, at IFA in Berlin. Recently, video leaks from HitRecord showed the smartphone in all its glory, though it was soon pulled down. And the one thing which was known and confirmed by the video is that the smartphone will come with a dual camera setup at the back. Considering everything about the LG V30 is already known, the company went ahead and revealed the most special camera detail – the aperture. Also Read - iPhone selling in LG stores? LG V30 will come with a f/1.6 aperture lens as the company revealed in a recent statement. The aperture is the largest among the existing smartphone cameras and will allow for more light to pass through. LG says that the new aperture will allow as much as 25 percent more light to pass through compared to the f/1.8 apertures currently in use by smartphone cameras. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8-series smartphones feature an f/1.7 aperture lens. It is unclear if the front camera will boast of the same aperture as LG has not confirmed the same, but there is a mention of wide-angle shots and comfortable ‘group wefies’ using the front camera. Another change LG is bringing to the V30 is replacing the plastic lens with a crystal clear glass lens. LG claims that the glass lens allows the sensor to capture more light as well as for better color reproduction. The camera in the LG V30 will cut edge distortion considerably as compared to the previous LG flagship, LG V20. LG has ensured that despite the dual camera setup, the sensors are not bulky and the camera lens is 30 percent smaller in size than the previous V-edition smartphones. Other features that the camera will sport are specialized UX featuring laser detection AF, optical image stabilization, and electronic image stabilization. “LG boasts an unrivaled heritage in smartphone photography and our decision to adopt glass in the V30 camera is specifically because this has traditionally been the realm of DSLRs,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “For the users for whom the V series was designed, this kind of innovation is significant.” LG is stressing on photography as well as videos for the new LG V30 and the smartphone will come with 4K video recording. While no new scenes or settings are elaborated by LG, the company is expected to reveal more camera details closer to launch. LG introduced the dual display trend with the LG V-series smartphones but sadly, the V30 is expected to ditch the secondary display and come with an edge-to-edge display with slimmed down top and bottom bezels. The leaked video footage confirms the same. The fingerprint scanner is on the back of the smartphone, right below the camera module. On the specifications front, not much is revealed but the smartphone is likely to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. With the launch just a few days away, more leaks are expected to filter in soon.
