LG has announced that it will be launching a new lineup of wearable audio products at CES 2017, led by the TONE Studio and TONE Free. The LG TONE Studio personal wearable speaker features four speakers, with two full-range drivers at the top and two vibrating at the bottom. This gives the listener a personal surround sound experience when watching a movie, playing a video game or listening to music. The sound has been designed in collaboration with DTS, which is known for its tuning for surround sound and theater-like audio. The TONE Studio also features a high-end DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) that is claimed to enhance sound quality by recreating audio content as accurately as possible. The speaker is meant to be used as a personal speaker which will play audio close to your ears, and potentially sounds like something that will work well when watching movies or TV shows on your smartphone or tablet. The TONE Free comes with wireless earbuds that charge whenever they are stored inside the neckband, which provides extra battery power and vibration alerts for incoming calls and text messages. It also provides a secure place to store the earbuds when not in your ears, making them less likely to lose. The TONE Free also lets you go completely hands free and answer or ignore a call with voice commands. It’s similar to the Samsung Gear IconX earbuds, but the neckband adds an interesting element to this product.
Apart from the TONE Studio and TONE Free, LG will also be revealing the TONE Infinim, which features LG s Metal Layer Speaker Technology, and the TONE Ultra, developed in collaboration with JBL that features dual MEMS microphones for improved call clarity. LG s lineup of wearable audio products including TONE Platinum, TONE Active+, TONE Pro and LG FORCE will be on display at CES 2017.
