LG unveiled the G Watch R smartwatch at IFA, which stood out from the crowd of smartwatches due to its circular design. Now it seems the South Korean company is working on a new smartwatch, which could boast 3G capabilities, GforGames reports.
The smartwatch codenamed LG VC100/LG VC100P was spotted on FCC s website, and it seems to feature a CDMA-compliant 3G radio. The document states that the device is restricted to wrist-worn use, which confirms that it is a smartwatch. In terms of size, it features dimensions of 57.7×35.5mm, which seems aptly sized compared to the rather large Samsung Gear S 58.3×39.8mm.
Speaking of which, Samsung recently announced a smartwatch with 3G capabilities called the Gear S. While it is not a completely standalone smartwatch as was previously believed, it is still far less reliant on a smartphone compared to others.
Meanwhile, the LG G Watch R is set to reach select markets by the fourth quarter of 2014. The smartwatch has a complete round dial unlike the Moto 360, which flattens a bit around the base. The LG G Watch R is dust and waterproof, and will only be available only in black color with an interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap.
