LG unveiled the X Power2 smartphone around the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February this year. Though LG has not confirmed anything officially, rumors suggest the phone might be up for sale later this month. The phone is expected to be available first in North America and will then be rolled out to other markets across the globe. However, there is no word on the Indian launch yet. The exact pricing of the phone is not known, but average specifications means it is likely to be likely to be a mid-range device. LG X Power2 is a successor to LG X Power that launched in India last year for a retail price of Rs 15,990. The smartphone is expected to be priced around the same. Though the phone was expected to be unveiled in June, LG seems to have pushed the launch earlier. Also Read - This Qualcomm chip bug affects around 30 percent of phones globally: Report
The key highlight of the device is its battery, and it is targeted for those with heavy smartphone usage. LG X Power2 comes with a 4500mAh battery promising 26 hours of talk time, 18 hours of videos and 19 hours of web browsing. Fast-charge technology boosts the speed of charging to two hours.
In terms of design, LG X Power2 is average with nothing outstanding. The phone comes with rounded edges giving it a more circular look. The front houses the display with the earpiece grille, the selfie camera and the flash on the top whereas the back has the camera setup and the flash. Unfortunately, there is no fingerprint sensor on the phone, something that is commonly seen on entry-level smartphones too.
LG X Power2 specifications
The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box and sports a 5.5-inch HD display. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz. There is just one internal storage variant 16GB, though there s space for further expansion up to 2TB via microSD card slot. There are two RAM variants available, 1.5GB and 2GB. It is unclear if LG will launch both the variants in India.
On the camera front, the smartphone houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The front camera is 5-megapixel and comes with soft-light front flash. Additionally, the phone also supports hand gestures and Auto Shot. The dual SIM device is 4G LTE compliant. The phone will be available in black titan, shiny titan, shiny gold, and shiny blue colors. LG X Power2 will compete directly with Asus ZenFone 4 Max in India as both the phones feature similar specifications. Asus has been in news recently for the upcoming Asus ZenFone 4 Max. There have been multiple specification and image leaks surrounding the device. The impending launch of the Asus smartphone could be one of the reasons for LG to push the X Power 2 earlier than previously scheduled. There is not much competition in the battery-intensive segment presently with the present phones being late 2016 launches. LG X Power2 and Asus ZenFone 4 Max will be key players post launch. There is also Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with 4,100mAh battery and better specifications available for much lesser. Lenovo P2 with 5,100mAh battery could also be a contender in its price range.
