LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned professional networking platform, recently added support for video sharing for its users. Now, it wants to give users more controls like an option to add filters to the video footage. With the new editing option, LinkedIn seems to be jumping into the full suite of editing with its professional-focused network. With the updated LinkedIn mobile app, users can now add filters or text to their videos. The update follows an announcement where the platform announced a tool that will allow its users to ask for referrals. The update brings options to edit your videos with filters designed with a professional focus. In a blog post, LinkedIn says the current options include adding an “On the Air” graphic along with a “side hustle” and “work high five” filter. Also Read - Hey Google! The professional platform plans to expand the filter options in the future but it will remain centered around a professional theme. In addition to regular filters, LinkedIn will also add filters that are tied into events with the company showcasing an option for International Women’s Day as the sample for reference. The update seems to be inspired by a filter the company launched for Grace Hopper Celebration event.
The update also brings new text styles with the update. Now LinkedIn users can select from three new styles – FifthAve, Geometric and Plain – when they wish to express their views with text especially when the sound is off. These styles will expand further with future updates.
These new changes further highlight how LinkedIn is transforming its platform into a video-first professional network. However, these filters are very much different from the ones offered by platforms like Facebook and Snapchat.
