What if we told you that answering few GK questions could earn Rs 10,000. Well, meet a soon-to-be-famous app called Loco-The Live Trivia Game Show (ShowTime). Does it sound familiar? The game is a very similar to HQ Trivia that has taken the internet by storm in the US. Just like HQ took the classic TV game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and turned it into the perfect game for the internet, the same way Loco has been a reincarnation of the Indian TV show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.

Coming to the game, Loco conducts 15-minute quiz sessions, where the participant has to answer 10 questions correctly. The questions vary from topic to topic. The quiz is conducted twice a day on weekdays and one time on weekends. The first game of the day begins at 10:00PM.

In order to win the game’s prize money contestants must answer all ten questions correctly. If you miss out on even one question, or you answer one incorrect question, you will stand eliminated from the game. However, you can still continue to watch the game. If at the same time multiple contestants answer the questions correctly, then the money will be equally split among the players.

According to a report in HT, last week, the app saw more than 7,500 odd people playing the game at the same time.

Abhishek Madhavan, who is the chief executive of Loco said, “We have not spent any money on marketing so far. More than 80 percent of the new users have heard about the app from their friends.” By the end of the quarter, the company expects to see half a million users, he added. The month-old app currently available on The Google Play Store has 10 thousand downloads so far.

According to a report by inc42, the Loco app has seen rapid organic growth, with many players logging on between 1:30PM and 10:00PM daily to play the game. In other news, digital entertainment startup Pocket Aces has announced that it has acquired Loco. While the financial detail of the deal is not yet known, reports suggest that the deal was finalized at $1 million.
