As Apple’s highly-anticipated September 12 launch event draws nearer, the hype is at an all-time high. Although the stars of the show are going to be the new iPhones, it’s quite possible that Apple will announce (at least) something about the iPads as well. In anticipation of the same, Logitech has announced that its Crayon iPad stylus will be launching for everyone on the same day as Apple’s upcoming event.
An ‘affordable’ Apple Pencil alternative, the Logitech Crayon has been around for a while, but until now, it was only available to iPad users involved in the education sector. The stylus was also shown off at Apple’s March 2018 event held in Chicago, where the company launched the 9.7-inch iPad, aimed at students.
Even though the stylus will be launching with a slightly higher price tag ($69.99 or Rs 5,000 approximately), it’ll still be more affordable than the $100 Apple Pencil. Considering that it’ll be launched on the same day as Apple’s event, it’s plausible that Logitech Crayon will be compatible with iPads that Apple launches (if that happens at all) alongside the 2018 iPhones. However, currently it only supports the latest 9.7-inch iPad.

Having a 3-year limited hardware warranty, Logitech Crayon comes with replaceable tips (purchased separately). It features tilt sensitivity for dynamic line weight, and its palm rejection technology allows unnecessary touches to be disregarded. The stylus has a Lightning port for charging, and is claimed to have a battery life of up to seven hours. Logitech says that charging the Crayon for just two minutes allows 30 minutes of usage.
