Earlier today as a part of the Make in India initiative, OnePlus announced its partnership with Foxconn to start manufacturing smartphones in India. Hours later, Gionee announced that it too will be manufacturing smartphones in India in partnership with Foxconn. Gionee s smartphones too will be manufactured at Foxconn s Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh, which has the capacity to produce up to 500,000 handsets per month. Gionee has also said that it has sold over seven million smartphones in India, and aims at doubling that number by next year. We are very excited to have begun our India manufacturing. We would be working towards making India manufacturing a hub for not only India, but nearly countries too, William Lu, President Gionee said.
Gionee F103 specifications and features: The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) IPS Dragontrail display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
It also features an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 2,400mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.
