In April, Meizu launched the Meizu 15 series of smartphones including Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Plus, and the Meizu 15 Lite. While all smartphones were targeted towards the mid-range segment, it looks like Meizu plans on stepping up its game with the successors of the series. It was confirmed by Meizu’s founder Jack Wong that the Meizu 16 will come with high-end hardware and can be expected to launch in August.
However, that’s not the only thing he mentioned. According to Wong, Meizu’s latest flagship will come in two variants and will likely be called Meizu 16 and the Meizu 16 Pro. Both phones have also been suggested to run on Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Pro features and specifications
Based on other rumors, the Meizu 16 and the Meizu 16 Pro are expected to feature 5.6-inch and 6.1-inch notch-less OLED screens respectively. The screens are also suggested to carry support for 3D Press and mEngine. Both phones are expected to have a premium glass body and ceramic finish.
In the camera department, the Meizu 16 is likely to feature a dual-rear camera setup, consisting of a 20-megapixel sensor, tagged alongside a 12-megapixel sensor. The Meizu 16 Pro on the other hand is touted to be coming with a triple camera setup at the back with dual 12-megapixel sensors and a 24-megapixel sensor. We don’t know the exact purpose, but the camera could function similarly to Huawei’s P20 Pro. Up front, both smartphones will be coming with a 20-megapixel camera that is likely powered by AI.
Under the hood, Meizu 16 will be packing a 3,080mAh battery, while the Meizu 16 Pro is said to housing a bigger 3,600mAh battery, in order to support the bigger screen. The Android version isn’t specified yet, but the phones will come preloaded with Flyme 7.5 and OneMind 2.5.
