It’s been over a year since Google released Android Nougat, but brands like Meizu are only now rolling out the latest operating system updates for their smartphones. The Chinese company has now announced that Nougat will be rolled out to a bunch of its smartphones.

Spotted by Gizmochina, Meizu has scheduled the Android Nougat update for smartphones like Meizu Pro 6 PlusPro 6, Pro 6s, Pro 5, MX6, M5 Note, M3 Note, and Meizu M3 Max. According to the company, users of these smartphones will also be able to register for the open beta program starting July 2. The final version of the operating system will begin rolling out from July 10. The update will be rolled out in batches via OTA. Users can alternatively, head over to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update to manually check for the update.

Android Nougat update is expected to roll out with features such as split-screen multitasking, customizable quick settings and new Google keyboard among others. The update also helps users save battery and consume less memory when the screen is turned off which further helps saving battery life. The update is also said to fix bugs and brings performance improvements when compared to Android Marshmallow. ALSO READ: Google Android O could be called ‘Oatmeal Cookie’, not Android Oreo
