It’s been over a year since Google released Android Nougat, but brands like Meizu are only now rolling out the latest operating system updates for their smartphones. Spotted by Gizmochina, Meizu has scheduled the Android Nougat update for smartphones like Meizu Pro 6 Plus, Pro 6, Pro 6s, Pro 5, MX6, M5 Note, M3 Note, and Meizu M3 Max. According to the company, users of these smartphones will also be able to register for the open beta program starting July 2. The final version of the operating system will begin rolling out from July 10. The update will be rolled out in batches via OTA. Users can alternatively, head over to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update to manually check for the update.
Android Nougat update is expected to roll out with features such as split-screen multitasking, customizable quick settings and new Google keyboard among others. The update also helps users save battery and consume less memory when the screen is turned off which further helps saving battery life. Android Nougat’s market share jumped up to over four percent since April. According to the Android Developer Dashboard, Nougat devices have jumped 4.6 percent from April to 9.5 percent of active Android devices. Having said that, devices running on Android Marshmallow still lead the market with a share of 31.2 percent.
The last smartphone Meizu launched in India was the M5. Launched back in May, the smartphone is priced at Rs 10,499. The Meizu M5 comes with a 5.2-inch HD display. It runs on Android Marshmallow-based Flyme 5 OS. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It also comes with a 5-megapixel front facing the camera with f/2.0 aperture. It is powered by a 3,070mAh battery.
