Meizu is set to launch a new smartphone, called M6, in the coming week. The China-based company has started sending out media invites for the launch event, which will be held on September 20. The invite reads’Back to Basic’, next to an image of sneakers. With ‘basic’, the reference is to the M6 being an affordable smartphone. The Meizu M6 launch event will be held at the Beijing Performing Arts Center. It will kick start at 3:00PM local time or 12:30PM IST. According to GizmoChina, Meizu’s invite for the launch event is quite unusual as the company has sent a pair of actual sneakers as the formal invitation. To recall, the leaked specifications of the Meizu M6 does indicate the smartphone will be an entry-level device. Based on the past leaks, the Meizu M6 is expected to feature a metal unibody design, and carry forward specifications of its predecessor M5. It is likely to pack a 5.2-inch 720p display, MediaTek MT6750 with eight Cortex-A53 and Mali-T860 GPU. The memory and storage also remains the same as the predecessor. Last month, Meizu launched the M6 Note in China with dual-camera setup as its USP. The smartphone packs a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC, and paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. As for the camera, there is a pair of 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor, and a 5-megapixel Samsung 2L7 sensor at the back. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. It is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery. It runs on Android Nougat-based Flyme OS.
