Meizu has today launched a new smartphone called the MX6 at its event in China. Successor to last year s MX5, the smartphone comes with minor improvements in its specifications. The design of Meizu MX6 closely resembles the Meizu Pro 6, which was launched last year, and comes with a metal unibody design, 2.5D glass with curved edges and antenna bands at the back placed along the top and bottom edge. The Meizu MX6 is priced at 1,999 Yuan (which is approximately Rs 20,100). Launched in China, there is currently no word on when the smartphone will be making its way to the Indian shores. At this price point, the Meizu MX6 will face fierce competition from the likes ofLenovo Vibe X3 (Rs 19,999) and Gionee Elife S6 (Rs 19,999). Meizu MX6 Specifications
The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display and is powered by MediaTek’s 64-bit Helio X20 deca-core chipset clocked at 2.3GHz (two cortex A72 cores, eight cortex A53 cores) paired with Mali-T880 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The Meizu MX6 also comes with 32GB of onboard storage, but there is no word on whether or not it boasts a microSD card slot.
In the photography department, the smartphone features a 12-megpaixel rear camera of aperture f/2.0 (Sony IMX386 Sensor), PDAF, LED flash and 4K video recording facilities. Up front is a 5-megpaixel front-facing camera of aperture f/2.0 for selfies and video calling.

Meizu has also included an mTouch fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, which is embedded within the home button. The MX6 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with a layer of Flyme 5.5 OS running atop. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, USB Type-C port, 4G LTE (Cat.6 300Mbps), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS. Armed with a 3,060mAh non-removable battery, it supports the company s mCharge feature that can charge the smartphone up to 60 percent in 30 minutes and full charge in 75 minutes.
In comparison, the Vibe X3 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, dual front speakers, fingerprint scanner, 3,500mAh battery, and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. It also features a 21-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Gionee Elife S6 features a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display, MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing unit, 3,150mAh battery and USB Type-C connectivity port.
The company has also introduced a new Loop Jacket accessory with the MX6. The cover comes with a circular cutout on the front to quickly glance at time, notifications and more without having to open the protective cover. It will set you back 79 Yuan (approximately Rs 800).
