Meizu Note 8 with 6-inch notch-free display launched: Price, specifications and features

Meizu has launched the Note 8 as an affordable version of its X8 smartphone in China. The Meizu Note 8 features the same dual rear camera setup as the X8 but has a slightly smaller screen. It also offers a bigger battery than Meizu’s X-series offering at one-third of the price.

Meizu Note 8 is available for pre-order now and will be available in four different colors. With Meizu Note 8, the Chinese smartphone is taking on the recently unveiled Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and other mid-range smartphones from brands like Honor, Oppo and Vivo. Here is a look at the complete specifications and price of Meizu’s newest offering.

Meizu Note 8: Specifications and Price

Meizu Note 8 features a metal unibody design and sports a 6-inch display with a bezel-less design and no notch at the top. The display supports a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset, which is an octa-core CPU with four performance Kryo cores based on Cortex A73 and four efficiency Kryo cores based on Cortex A53 design. The chipset is aided by Adreno 506 GPU, making it a downgraded version of Snapdragon 660 with graphics performance same as that of Snapdragon 450.

The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage but Meizu has not confirmed whether it supports expandable storage. On the camera front, Meizu is offering a dual rear camera setup comprising of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with 360-degree recognition angle and support for five fingers.

The Meizu Note 8 runs Flyme OS based on Android Oreo and is backed by a 3,600mAh battery. It supports fast charging via supplied 18W fast charger but still relies on microUSB port while the industry is switching to USB Type-C port. One of the good things is that Meizu is retaining the 3.5mm headphone jack. The Meizu Note 8 is priced at RMB 1,299 (around Rs 13,700) and will be available for purchase starting November 1 in grey, blue, purple and red colors.
