Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has rather quietly launched its flagship ‘Pro 7’ smartphone with dual display in India. The company announced the availability of the smartphone in the Indian market via its official Twitter handle. Meizu had a muted 2017 in India. It launched only two smartphones last year, and had little presence due to wider availability and better pricing from other Chinese rivals. The launch of Meizu Pro 7 could mean company’s renewed focus on the market, which is one of the fastest growing smartphone market in the world. On Amazon India, the smartphone is being sold by a third-party retailer known as ITECH, and it mentions that Pro 7 will be available in limited stocks only. Meizu Pro 7 Specifications and Features
Meizu Pro 7 was launched in China in the month of August last year. It is one of the most unique smartphone launches of 2017 as the emphasis around more screens grows among major smartphone manufacturers. The Pro 7’s unique selling point is its dual-display design, which not only makes it look unique, but also offers value addition.
In terms of specifications, it features a standard a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display at the front with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, and 16:9 aspect ratio. There is also a secondary 2-inch AMOLED display at the back with a resolution of 536×240 pixels. The secondary display serves the purpose of showing notifications, weather, time, music among other information. It can also used as the viewfinder while taking selfies with the rear camera.
The smartphone also comes with dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup with f/2.0 aperture, and image sensor with 1.25 micron pixel size. The dual rear camera supports phase detection autofocus, dual-tone dual LED flash, and can shoot 4K videos at 30 frames per second. There is also a 16-megapixel camera at the front for selfies with f/2.0 aperture.
While Meizu Pro 7 is available in two different storage options in China, the company is only launching the standard variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in India. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 SoC coupled with Mali-T880MP2 GPU. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat layered with Meizu’s Flyme 6 UI, and sports a front-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Meizu Pro 7 supports connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and 4G LTE. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery, and charges via USB Type-C port. Meizu says it can charge from zero to 67 percent in 30 minutes with the help of mCharge technology. It will be available only in black color, and will compete against newly launched devices including the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9.
