Meizu today launched two new smartphones in its U series, called the U10 and U20. For now, both devices have been launched for the Chinese market, and there is no word on an international launch in countries like India. Prices for the smartphones start from 999 Yuan or Rs 10,000 approximately. The U20 is set to go on sale over the weekend on August 28, while the U10 will be available from September 18. The Meizu U10 and the U20 will be available in two variants each. The Meizu U10 with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM variant is priced at 999 Yuan (Rs 10,000 approximately), while the 32GB storage with 3GB of RAM variant is priced at 1,199 Yuan or Rs 12,000 approximately. The Meizu U20 with 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM is priced at 1,099 Yuan or Rs 11,000 approximately, and finally the 32GB onboard storage with 3GB RAM version is priced at 1,299 Yuan or Rs 13,100 approximately. The two devices boast a body encased in glass and a metallic frame. Also, the two smartphones feature a physical home button placed below the display that also double up as fingerprint scanner, which is powered by Meizu’s mTouch 2.1 technology. Meizu U10 specifications
The Meizu U10 flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by an yet unannounced octa-core processor. Both 16GB and 32GB variants come with microSD card slot, which can be used to expand the internal memory up to 128GB. For photography, the U10 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a dual-tone LED flash, while up front is a 5-megapixel snapper. The smartphone also features a 2,760mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup supporting two nano SIMs), 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, the U10 runs on Flyme UI based on YunOS.
Meizu U20 specifications
The Meizu U20, on the other hand, flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. It is also powered by an octa-core processor. The 16GB and 32GB variants both come with microSD card slot, which supports additional storage up to 128GB.
The smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is powered by a 3,260mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Alibaba’s YunOS wrapped under Meizu’s Flyme UI.
Not a lot differentiates both the smartphones as they share much of the specifications and features. Both smartphones are also preloaded with the option to make payments via the Alipay app. The only major differences visible are the screen sizes and the battery. Both devices will be available in black, gold and rose gold colors. It remains to be seen if Meizu plans to bring either of the smartphones to India though as they run on YunOS, which is exclusive to the Chinese market.
