The Meizu X2 has been rumored to launch for well over a year and the original model was launched in November 2016, hinting at its successor to arrive at the end of 2018. The Meizu VP has now confirmed that the company had to delay the launch of the Meizu X2 and is now planning to launch the device this year. While some reports claimed that Meizu X2 will be a mid-ranger, the VP dismissed those claims saying it will be a flagship. According to Android Headlines, the Meizu X2 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which could well be part of the new agreement between Meizu and Qualcomm. The smartphone is said to be a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S9. Li said that despite competing against premium flagships from Samsung and LG, the Meizu X2 will be priced at 2,999 Yuan (around Rs 30,000), which would be about half the price of other premium flagship devices.
The Meizu X2 will definitely feature a full-screen design and Li says that the bezel-free design will be extended to company’s budget and mid-range offerings as well. There are also rumors claiming that the Meizu X2 will sport a secondary display at the back similar to the one seen on Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus.
Li neither confirmed nor denied the presence of secondary display on the smartphone. He also did not confirm whether the smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup at the rear. There is no word on official release just yet but it may become an interesting device if Meizu manages to offer a premium experience at mid-range price segment.
