Facebook recently launched an Artificial Intelligence-based platform called Messenger Bots, which allowed users to access various services, from ordering flowers to buying clothes, using their respective service bots within its Messenger app. Apart from international companies, which were the launch partners to adopt the Messenger bot service, Indian companies are also gradually embracing the new technology. After Jugnoo, cab booking service Meru launched its bot service.The Meru bot enables Facebook users to book cabs using Messenger, without needing to download the Meru app. With the launch of the Messenger bot-based service Meru aims to bring ease of access and save time for its users. In order to test the bot’s efficiency, we used both the Messenger bot and Meru’s Android app to find out which proves to be a more convenient choice and here’s what we found out. Even though booking a cab through the Meru Messenger bot may take slightly longer than the app, it works equally well. Just like Meru’s mobile application, once you have registered yourself, booking a cab can be done in a jiffy. The chat bots are a useful option for those who either do not have the application, or prefer not to keep too many applications on their smartphone. Since most people have Facebook Messenger on their smartphones, (now that Facebook is killing the messaging service on the app and forcefully moving users to the Messenger app) downloading just the Facebook Messenger will do the trick!
